1666: Amsterdam Player Tools
Controls, requirements, and planning checklists — everything that helps you survive Amsterdam.
The Tools hub collects practical resources that make playing 1666: Amsterdam easier. These are not optional lore pages — they are working references you will return to regularly while playing. Bookmark them before starting your first Esbat.
Controls Reference
The Controls Reference covers every input on PC, PlayStation 5 DualSense, and Xbox controllers. It includes key bindings for movement, combat, witchcraft abilities, perspective switching with Aaron, and navigation. The game supports full controller remapping on PC — if the default layout does not suit you, you can rebind every input in the settings menu.
The Controls Reference also explains input nuance: how to hold versus tap for different effects, which inputs are context-sensitive, and how to use the familiar perspective switch without interrupting your combat flow.
PC Requirements
The PC Requirements page has the official minimum and recommended specifications. The single most important thing to know: hardware ray tracing is required, not optional, and an SSD is mandatory. The game will not run from an HDD. If your system does not have a GPU with ray tracing support and at least 8GB of VRAM, the game will not launch.
Bookmark this page if you are upgrading your PC specifically for this game, or if you are unsure whether your current system can handle it.
Esbat Planning Checklist
The Esbat Checklist is a downloadable planning sheet for each district’s Esbat. It helps you organize your targets, plan your Coffer priorities, and track which abilities you have selected before entering the night.
The Esbat loop involves many simultaneous variables: which Originals are present, what their abilities are, what your Suspicion level is, which Coffers you have open, what your Lux/Nux balance looks like, and which abilities you selected from your Coffer. Using the checklist on paper or in a second monitor window reduces cognitive load and helps you make better tactical decisions.
The checklist is player-made. It is not an official game feature — it is a wiki resource we provide because the Esbat loop is genuinely complex and a written planning tool makes it more manageable.
Bookmark this hub and return to it before every major Esbat sequence.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions about 1666: Amsterdam.
Can I remap controls on PC?
Yes. The game supports full control remapping on PC through its settings menu. The default layout is reasonable but remapping to match your preferences is recommended if you play frequently. The [Controls Reference](/tools/controls/) page has the full list of rebindable inputs.
Does the game support keyboard and mouse on console?
No. Console versions are PC-only at Early Access launch and keyboard/mouse support on consoles has not been announced. On PC, both keyboard+mouse and controller are fully supported.
Is the Esbat Checklist available in-game?
No. The checklist is a player-made planning tool. It is not a feature of the game itself — it is a wiki resource we provide to help organize your hunt preparation. Print it, use it on a second monitor, or reference it on your phone while playing.
My PC meets the minimum requirements but runs poorly. Why?
The minimum specification includes a ray tracing GPU with 8GB VRAM and an SSD. If your system meets these but performance is poor, make sure ray tracing is not being software-emulated on an older GPU. Check the [PC Requirements](/tools/pc-requirements/) page for the exact GPU recommendations.
