1666: Amsterdam Early Access Is Live

25 August 2026: first chapter on PC, launch trailer at gamescom, and a year of promised districts still ahead.

Last updated:

On 25 August 2026 Panache Digital Games shipped 1666: Amsterdam into Early Access on Windows via Steam and the Epic Games Store at $29.99. The date had been locked earlier in the month and was announced with Gameplay Feature #3. The launch itself arrived with a new trailer shown around gamescom Opening Night Live: a look at the city, the Collector, and the forces under the canals. This page is the news record. Patch-by-patch notes live on Early Access updates.

What you are buying today

The studio’s own Early Access FAQ is unusually plain. The opening build is “the first piece of the campaign,” expected to take about fifteen hours. Completion of the full game is estimated at roughly one year, with major updates adding boroughs, hours of story, and more Originals. Saves are meant to ride through that year. Steam will apply patches whether you like them or not.

Hardware reality has not changed since the Prologue: ray tracing is mandatory, SSD is assumed, 16 GB RAM is the practical floor. Read system requirements before you gift a key to a laptop that only pretends to be a 4070.

Languages listed at launch include English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Dutch, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Brazilian Portuguese, and Russian. Dutch subtitles were already in during the Chronicle period; full Dutch dubbing was not promised.

What the launch trailer is for

The launch trailer is a tone piece, not a tutorial. It frames Clio’s inheritance, Noa’s sacrifice, and the sense that the Collector’s power is both beautiful and a problem. If you want systems, watch Feature #3 on the day and night page instead. If you want the myth, watch Feature #1 on Zaindaris.

How Panache wants you to talk about it

The 25 August press note is explicit: because the game is incomplete, the studio is not soliciting scored reviews. They asked for previews, impressions, features, guides, and video. That is why this wiki’s press preview page exists as a round-up of the 10 August hands-on, not as a Metacritic clone.

Feedback is meant to go through the official Discord. An in-game bug reporter was promised around Early Access in the Midnight Chronicle series. Use Discord plus a save when something actually breaks; this wiki cannot patch Unreal.

Known shape of the first chapter

Expect the first district of a dense, enterable Amsterdam, the dual Noa/Aaron kit, daytime identity work, Esbat hunts with Coffer risk, and the safehouse loop. Do not expect the finished multi-borough city the Steam page describes as the 1.0 destination. Do not expect the Prologue’s thirty quiet minutes to be the whole combat tutorial — the Prologue still does not contain the finished hunt loop.

AI controversy, stated position

The June Prologue backlash over generated placeholder art is part of the public record. Panache apologised and said human replacements were the plan for Early Access and 1.0. In August interviews the studio still described AI as a tool in the pipeline while insisting finished assets should not be “slop” in the player-facing game. This wiki documents the statements. It does not launder them. Check the live build with your own eyes.

What we will update here

When Steam news posts a numbered patch, it goes on the updates hub and the Early Access log. When a Chronicle issue drops, it goes in the same log with a date. Launch day itself is this article so the trailer and the $29.99 first-chapter offer stay findable after the next moon.

New players should start at Getting Started, not at a patch list.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions about 1666: Amsterdam.

When did Early Access launch and on which stores?

25 August 2026, PC only, Steam and Epic Games Store, $29.99 USD at launch. There is no console build in this phase.

How long is the current build?

Panache quotes about fifteen hours for the first campaign piece. Some preview sessions were shorter slices of the same opening district. Treat 15 hours as the studio estimate, not a speedrun.

Will my save work until 1.0?

The studio’s Early Access copy says you play unfolding chapters over about a year and that they intend to keep developing regardless of opening sales. Always back up saves around major content drops anyway.

Is this a scored review embargo?

Launch PR asked critics not to score an unfinished game. Coverage should be labelled preview or impressions. This wiki follows that distinction.
